Tuesday, April 29th

  1. Continued reading Out of the Dust and working on questions. You should be at least at page 150 by now.
  2. Turned in page 544 Q's 1-6.
  3. PPT- FDR and the New Deal.
  4. Assignment- New Deal Agencies Chart, it's due May 5th. We will be working on it on Thursday as well.

** Great Depression Test on May 7th. Study Guide will be given out on the 1st.

Thursday, April 24th

  1. Continued reading Out of the Dust and working on the questions. The questions are done when we finish the book.
  2. Finished "What Should be Done" activity from Tuesday. Get handouts from me.
  3. PPT- The Election of 1932. Read Chapter 15 Section 4 if you missed this lecture.
  4. Assignment: Read Chapter 16 Section 1 and do questions 1-6 on page 544.
  5. Notebook Check- worth 40 points.

Tuesday, April 22nd

  1. Turned in letter to President Roosevelt with "field notes" worksheet.
  2. Read Out of the Dust and worked on questions for 20 minutes.
  3. The Human Toll- Images of the Great Depression: looked at pictures of the Dust Bowl, Hoovervilles, and took some notes about the Bonus Army and the Effects of the Great Depression on various social groups.
  4. Activity: What Should be done? Turned in worksheet. See me to get it.

** Notebook check on Thursday. It's worth 40 points! Thursday is also the last day to turn in missing work.

Friday, April 18th

  1. Read Out of the Dust silently for 20 minutes and worked on questions.
  2. Activity: Worked with a partner looking at pictures taken by Dorothea Lange of victims of the Great Depression, took field notes on the 4 photographs.
  3. Assignment: From the perspective of a photographer who traveled the country during the depression, write a letter to President Franklin Roosevelt describing what you saw and 3 solutions to the depression. See me for more specific instructions. The letter is due on Tuesday the 22nd.

** Remember the end of the 6 weeks is Thursday the 24th. All missing work is due by 4pm and we will be doing a notebook check that day in class. See me if you have any questions.

Wednesday, April 16th

  1. Read pgs. 30-60 in Out of the Dust and I handed out the questions for the book. The worksheet is due when we finish the book.
  2. Activity/Assignment: Graphing Economic Indicators of the Great Depression. You'll need to get the worksheet with the data for the graphs for me and then answer the questions using the data on the graphs.

** Don't forget that next Thursday, the 24th, is the end of the 6 week grading period. We will be having a notebook check that day and any missing work is due by 4 p.m. that day.

Tuesday, April 8th

  1. Turned in "Twenties" acrostic assignment.
  2. PPT- The Republican Decade- Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover
  3. 1920s Connections chart- worked with a partner, went over in class, didn't turn in but I expect to see it in your notebook on April 24th.
  4. Reviewed for test.

Test is this Thursday the 10th. You can use a 3x5 notecard, hand written on both sides.

Friday, April 4th

  1. Finished the 1920s: The Dark Side packets
  2. Assignment: Create an acrostic with the word "Twenties." Use information from packets and presentations to fill it out.

Test is April 10th! We will be reviewing on Tuesday so make sure you've gone over the study guide.

Wednesday, April 2nd

  1. Finished Presentations- turned in an explanation of individual contributions and an evaluation of the group as a whole.
  2. Started 1920s: The Dark Side packet questions.
  3. Handed out Roaring 20s Test Study Guide.
