  4. Discussed the Industrial Revolution test that you will be having on Monday. I handed out the study guide and gave everyone a 3X5 notecard to use on the test. You can use both sides of the notecard but everything on it must be handwritten. You will have the entire period to take the test. It will be a combination of matching, multiple choice, and short answer.
  5. Worked on 'A' level task. Remember these are due on Monday.

**Remember parent conferences are Wednesday and Thursday. It is extra credit if your parents come and even more if you come with them.

  • All 'C' level tasks that have not been turned in yet are now late. Homework Club slips were given out today. Anyone who got a HC slip must get it signed by a parent by this Friday and turn in any of their missing work, otherwise they must start attending Homework Club on Friday (2:45-3:45 in the library) until the work is completed.
  • Your 'B' level task is due Friday. No oral defense required.

  3. The Human Toll- Images of the Great Depression: looked at pictures of the Dust Bowl, Hoovervilles, and took some notes about the Bonus Army and the Effects of the Great Depression on various social groups.

  2. Activity: Worked with a partner looking at pictures taken by Dorothea Lange of victims of the Great Depression, took field notes on the 4 photographs.
  3. Assignment: From the perspective of a photographer who traveled the country during the depression, write a letter to President Franklin Roosevelt describing what you saw and 3 solutions to the depression. See me for more specific instructions. The letter is due on Tuesday the 22nd.

Friday, March 14th

  1. Groups performed their slang skits and we discussed the slang words and what slang can tell you about any given generation.
  2. 1920s Multimedia Presentation Project- broke into 7 groups. Each group has a different social change topic from the 1920s and is preparing a 5 to 7 minute presentation that incorporates at least 3 different types of media. Presentations are due March 31st. We will be going to the library to do additional research on the 18th and 20th but you should be doing research on your own.

Wednesday, March 12th

I was gone but here is what the substitute did:
  1. Turned in Chapter 13 Section 3 questions.
  2. Watched video The Century- Boom to Bust and answered questions. Turned the questions in when the video was finished. See me to arrange a time to make this up.
  3. Activity: 1920's Slang Skits- broke into groups and wrote 2 skits based on slang, one using 1920s words and then a modern day version. Words were given to each group. Skits were then performed on Friday. If you were gone then you need to see me to arrange a make-up assignment.

Monday, March 10th

  2. Showed video Rumrunners, Moonshiners, and Bootleggers and did a study guide as you watched. Didn't finish the video, we'll finish it on the 18th and turn in the questions.

  1. Presented Russian Revolution Timelines.
  2. Worked on Part 4 of the Russian Revolution Worksheet from Friday. It's due on Thursday.
  3. Studied for the test. I gave everyone a 3x5 card to use for notes on the test. Remember you can only handwrite the information, no typing. Test is Thursday. Make sure to bring a #2 pencil.

*I posted grades for your B and A level work and handed it back. If it had a note about re-doing it for credit you need to get it turned in by March 6th.
**If you haven't turned in either your B or A level tasks they are due by March 6th. They're late but still worth points. I won't accept them after the 6th.

  2. World War I Monument Design Activity- we discussed monuments, looked at a PowerPoint showing examples. Your task is to design a World War I monument that will be placed on the National Mall in Washington D.C.
